PEACE IN THE STORM

John 8:22-25.
Peace is what everyone whether young or old, male or female, rich or poor, name it is entitled to. It is a basic need for every individual walking under the sun. God created the world in a peaceful manner, because God Himself is a God of peace. During the old testament, God did some things in order for peace to reign. Our God is not an author of confusion (1cor.14:33) but wholly endowed with peace.

In the world we live in today, it is quite difficult to experience peace, most people think it is such an herculean effort for any man to have joy and peace in his /her life. People believe that peace is either unattainable or difficult to achieve (believers inclusive). We hear people say 'even if there is peace in one aspect of one's life,  it's certain there would be chaos and troubles on other sides. I wouldn't say those justifications are wrong because looking at the troubles going on in the world, the increase in youth unemployment,  criminal activities,  extreme deviant acts, dangerous corrupt practices exhibited by our leaders, tribal clashes and insurgency cases have brought everyone to an abrupt conclusion that this world is far from being peaceful. This has been the stand of 80% of the world's population since the middle ages when technology mishaps were limited. People are forced to live with more consciousness of their environment as been unsafe and insecure for them. There is limited trust for your neighbors, suspicious looks are on every man's faces because no one truly believes or know what your real identity is-oh! What a loss for the essence of mankind.
Now, it is important for every living person to undersrtand that life is a battle ground, life ain't always rousy and nice,  there are stormy days. Yes,  certainly the storm will blow against everyone but what is important is your believe during the time of storm. Let's take a case study of the trip of Jesus and His disciples in John 8:22-25. The journey has been cool and fair (just as many expect life to be)  but suddenly a storm arose: and that's how life is,  the storm will never announce it's coming,  it is always SUDDEN. We saw that  the disciples tried all their possible best to calm the storm,  they used their professional skills (Peter and Andrew wouldn't be so surprised because they were fishermen, they must have come in contact with storms on their fishing trips) yet all was to no avail, instead the storm grew more stronger and even blew harder against them. Whenever you are being confronted or faced with challenges,  NEVER THINK YOU CAN HANDLE IT ON YOUR OWN,  don't think you are capable. Your educational background, professional experiences, prowess, and self pride are nothing at this point, because the harder you try on your own, the stronger the storm blows.  All you need to do is to call unto Jesus just like the disciples did, He is always in the same boat with us (He is in our life's situation,  He is aware)  but until you call Him,  you render Him dormant in your life's situation.                                        And as they called unto Him (Jesus) He told them that they had little faith or no faith: your faith's level will determine your achievements in life. You can't experience peace, if you don't have faith (Rom. 5vs1). Jesus stood and commanded "peace be still ", do you know why the storm obeyed,  it's because Jesus is the prince of peace( Isiah 9:6), and only Him/His name can command peace (Job 25:2).

What really baffled me about this account was how Jesus showed no sign of panic or restlessness during the tempest, He was even far asleep, that gives a clarity that He was certain that the storm could do no harm to Him. He knew what He carried: the solemnity called Peace ( He experienced and was a carrier of an inner peace).  This is what God wants for all His children, an inner peace,  that when stormy situations arise, you smile because you got Jesus,  the Prince of peace in your boat,  and at thee mention of His name,  every knee bows and every tongue MUST confess Jesus as Lord. What you have to do now is to call on that mighty name concerning every issue stealing your joy and peace,  tell them that peace  be settled in the name of JESUS  and it is SETTLED.
Peace comes from God and as His children we are to search for peace which is only in CHRIST -Psalms 34:14.
